FROM OZ TO PEE WEE - vintage tv & movie toys
Vintage TV / Movie toys began with Mickey Mouse making his movie debut in 1928, and Walt Disney instantly inventing toy tie-ins. That tradition continues to this day. Though King Kong (1933) was the first non-animated film to exploit toys as well, The Wizard of Oz (1939), proved to be the first huge explosion of tie-ins. Star Wars, todays "Oz", continued the explosion. Of course, in the middle was television. The late '40s brought us Howdy Doody's toys advertised right in your living room!
